This one has us scratching our heads a bit. It should auto-save in the scenario you are talking about. What desktop platform are you on (PC or Mac), what OS are you running, and what web Browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE, etc).
Sorry to hear things are not working as you would expect them too. To help us narrow things down, are you using mycore desktop or mobile? Also, PC, Mac, or Android? When you say your adding things from your choice list to your calendar, please walk me through that process. And please detail what calendar they are not showing up in. I think I know what the problem is but I want to make sure I have the info correct before advising you further.
Unfortunately at this time mycore is compatible with Google Calendar but it is not compatible with Gtasks. This is an item we will be implementing in the future. I know this isn't the answer you wanted to hear.
We are going to work to make this easier over the coming months. But for now, the way adding tasks is designed is the click out model. That means for example, when you are done typing, you simply touch outside the typing field to save your work.
Just got word from one of our developers and we are certainly going to do this.
I have word from one of our co-founders that this feature is on the radar!
You can vote up or down the progress on our bugs too!

Stuart: " I entered my value statements on my children's computer which is running OS 10.6.8 and I was using Google Chrome. Since the OS is so outdated, we figured that was the problem. However, my wife then tried from her computer running OS 10.11.5 using Safari and had the same result."
